18. Surfer’s Code of Conduct
The Surfer’s Code of Conduct governs how Surf Abu Dhabi expects surfers to behave while learning and surfing in the Wave Basin.
• Surf To Your Ability
Only surf to your ability. If our Surf Abu Dhabi staff notice that you are having difficulty in the experience you are surfing, or pose a hazard to yourself or other surfers, we may suggest an alternative surfing experience, recommend a wave profile more suitable to your level or add additional safety and support.
• Wait Your Turn
At Surf Abu Dhabi, the Surf Team have strict surfer rotation systems on the Main Wave to equally allow all guests their allocated waves during their experience. Jet Ski Drivers and Surf Team members will notify guests of their position in the lineup. Surfers are expected to wait their turn to catch their wave. There is a strict prohibition on “dropping in” (i.e., taking off on a wave that another surfer is already riding).
• Your Wave Is Your Wave
When your wave comes, it’s yours! If you aren’t ready, miss it, or fall, you’ll need to return to the back of the queue and wait your turn for another wave.
• Protect yourself, Keep Clear Of Other Surfers
If you fall, protect yourself in line with Water Safety Team’s guidance and keep clear of other surfers by close to the fence by your Surf Guide. Avoid paddling up the green face of the wave, as you are likely to disrupt the surfer who’s up and riding.
• Be Respectful, Friendly, and Courteous
Maintain a pleasant atmosphere by keeping noise and profanity to a minimum. When paddling or catching a wave, communicate your intentions to the Surf Team. Please avoid verbal and physical altercations with other surfers.
• Breaking The Code
If you break the code or make a mistake, simply apologize and head to the back of the queue. If you drop in or snake other surfers, you’re likely to be unpopular in the water and will be warned by our staff. Depending on the circumstances, offenders may be required to leave the water or venue, and Surf Abu Dhabi reserves the right to eject surfers at its sole discretion.
